Summer is finally here and I'm sure you are all itching to get out and explore in your motorhome. This list of summer destinations will send you and your motorhome from sea to shining sea! Keep reading to see where this summer can take you.
Our first stop is Key West, Florida. Florida is a popular destination during the summer season because of the wide array of beaches, sunsets, and of course Disney World! Key West; however, is not one of the main cities in Florida that tourists flock to during the summer, so you will actually be able to enjoy the beach without the swarms of crowds. So if you travel to Key West, where can you stay in your motorhome? The highest rated stop in Key West is the Bluewater Key RV Resort. For more information on this luxury resort visit their website here. So now you have a place to stay in Key West, but what is there to do besides enjoy the views? You can venture out to Smathers Beach, which is the largest public beach in all of Key West. Or if you want to see a wide variety of ocean life you can visit John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. It is the first undersea park in the United States and allows guest to see the reef and wildlife by boat tours, snorkeling, or scuba diving. Finally, you can enjoy a sunset boat tour around Key West and enjoy the view of the ocean and maybe see a flash of green!
Our next stop is Fairbanks, Alaska. Alaska is kind of a long haul for most motorhome enthusiasts but the trek is still possible for those who long to get to cooler weather during the summer time. Where can you park your motorhome while in Fairbanks? River's Edge Resort offers a great view and has great amenities, all for a good rate. Find out more information on how to reserve your space here. After you are all set up at your sight, you are ready to explore what Alaska has to offer. Fairbanks offers guests incredible views of the mountains and the ocean but there are some things that give the city even more flair. For example, you can go on a hike with a husky as your guide or visit a reindeer ranch during one of your free afternoons. The northern lights are another big seller for Fairbanks; however, the best time to spot that magical wonder is in the winter season, so you will just have to plan anther adventure.
Another place you can visit is Yosemite National Park in California; however, you will probably want to plan your trip in advance before you hit the road to one of the nation's most well known parks. Yosemite, like all other national parks in the summertime, is in its peak season because there are many people going on vacation in the summer months. You can stay in your motorhome at Yosemite National park; however, you can't use your generator all the time and there are no electrical, water, or sewer hookups at their sites. Don't fret though because you can stay at the Upper Pines campground that does have a dumping station with fresh water. For more camping information at Yosemite National Park, visit their website here. After you have set up your site, there are many things to see and do while visiting Yosemite. Some of the most popular destinations are Tenaya Lake, Mariposa Grove, and the El Capitan summit. All of these breathtaking features are located in the park, so you don't have to go out and find an adventure. At Yosemite National Park the adventure is all around you.
Our last stop for this list had to be in the greatest state of all, Texas. Big Oak River campground in Camp Wood, Texas is sure to leave you with Texas-sized memories. At Big Oak River you can take a dip into the Nueces River that flows through the campground. Visitors can go kayaking, swimming, tubing, and fishing. If you are wanting to explore the area you can visit Devil's Sinkhole, located in Rocksprings, Texas, which is about an hour away from your site. You can also go watch millions of bats take off out of their cave at Frio Bat Flight. Camp Wood, Texas is a great destination for families who are looking to have a fun weekend getaway.
