Recipes and Treats: Is it just me or does food just taste better during the fall and winter months? Something about feeling all warm and cozy after eating a tasty stew or chili, when it's a little cool outside. I know in Texas it's still 90 degrees outside but the cooler temperatures are on their way (hopefully)! Anyway, below are some recipes that will make you want to throw an OKTOBERFEAST!

  • To kickstart our list we have a Harvest Chipotle Chili. This chili just is full of fall flavor, from the sweet potato to the Granny Smith red apples, there is a flavor in this chili that will bring everyone back for seconds. This recipe has a prep time of 30 minutes and a cooking time of 25 minutes. It also serves up to 8 people or 4 really hungry people! All you need is a food processor and a dutch oven and you are ready to go. This is a perfect meal to whip up in your motorhome because it's fast and you don't need every kitchen appliance in the world to make it.

  • Next we have a Spiced Pear Cranberry Cobbler. This dessert has all the sweet flavors we dream about in October. Pumpkin spice, ground cinnamon, and of course whipped cream. This recipe has a prep time of 40 minutes, a 1 hour baking time, and 30 minutes to let cool. This recipe is a good one to make at home first and then put in the fridge of your motorhome, if your destination is less than a day away. Aren't you ready to bake something other than pumpkin pie this season?

  • Batting third in our line up of recipes is a One Pan Harvest Pasta. This is the ultimate dish for anyone who is going to be on the road this entire fall season. As the name suggests, all you will need is one pan and 10 ingredients and a few seasonings. The prep time is 20 minutes and the cooking time ranges from 14 to 20 minutes. This is a perfect dish for a family of four especially young families, since it mixes pasta (a child's favorite) and lot's of vegetables (a child's worst enemy) together into one pan. Try it out this season and let us know if it's a crowd pleaser for all ages!

  • Our last recipe is for all those who live for pumpkin spice everything in October! The Pumpkin Spice Icebox Cakeis a simple dessert with less than 10 ingredients and only requires 20 minutes of hands on work. The longest part is waiting for the dessert to chill in the icebox, it's going to be hard not to dig in early, but for best results always follow the directions! Hopefully, this list of recipes will make your kitchen table the place to stay this fall.

Decorations for your Motorhome: Now that you know what to eat this month! Let's dive into some fall inspired decorations! These subtle D.I.Y. crafts will "leaf" you with a smile!

  • Before we get to indoor decorations, let's start with this cute Pumpkin Sign that you can put outside your door! All you will need is a pumpkin (or a fake pumpkin), 2 small black boards, paint, and some cordage rope. If you use a real pumpkin, cut a hole in the back and carve out the seeds. Next, paint a phrase onto your pumpkin and the 2 small black boards. Then drill holes and put a piece of rope that will connect all three pieces. Final step, is to hang it up on your door to put your fall spirit on display!

  • The next little craft will add a little color to your boring toilet paper roll. These Toilet Paper Pumpkins are very simple to make and don't require a lot of supplies to make. All you need to do is take some orange fabric and tuck it into the center of the toilet paper roll. Then add cinnamon sticks that will act as branches and stick in some silk leaves and then you're done.

After you paint and glue all the pieces you are ready to fill the jars with your favorite Halloween snack.

  • The last craft you all you have to do is Paint Acorns! All you need will need is some acorns, an oven, a baking sheet, paint brushes, and acrylic paint. You must be wondering, "Why on earth do I need an oven and a baking sheet?" The author of this D.I.Y. pointed out that when you bring things inside you either need to bake or freeze them so that there aren't any bugs in them. After you bake them for a few hours, you just paint them with different colored acrylic paints and then you are all done!
