From the hill country to the deserts to the beaches and the Pineywoods — Texas is such a diverse state! West Texas is known for its wide-open spaces with rugged plains and the only mountains in Texas are found here. Big Bend National Park is one of the most well-known national parks in the country and El Paso is the largest city in this region.

Davis Mountains State Park

This is a beautiful and historic park high in the mountains of West Texas. Here you can hike, backpack, mountain bike or ride your own horse, take a scenic drive through the mountains, go camping, stargaze, geocache and study nature.

Hueco Tanks State Park

At Hueco Tanks, you can hike, rock climb, bird watch, study nature and history, picnic and stargaze. Visitors can take guided and self-guided tours to view rock imagery.

Balmorhea State Park

Dive into the crystal-clear water of the world's largest spring-fed swimming pool. Swim, scuba dive, or just relax under the trees at this historic park in West Texas.

Caprock Canyons State Park and Trailway

Spend a weekend exploring the unspoiled wilderness of Colorado Bend, two hours northwest of Austin. Marvel at the beauty of Gorman Falls, cool off in Spicewood Springs, fish or paddle the river, take a cave tour, and explore the 35 miles of hike and bike trails.

Guadalupe Mountains National Park

As a hiker's paradise, you will find more than 80 miles of trails that meander through woodland canyons and lush riparian springs or zigzag up steep switchbacks directly into the park's rugged wilderness. And if hiking isn't your thing you can still relax and enjoy the amazing view!

Apache Pines RV Park

W. Hwy 90, Marfa, TX 79843

Here you will find 25 full RV hook-ups, free cable and WiFi, level pull-throughs on Hwy 90 at the western edge of town, well away from the railroad noise with beautiful prairie views in all directions. The official Marfa Lights Viewing Area is located 9 miles east of town on U.S. 90 towards Alpine.
