While October may be almost over there are still a few more things that will make you fall in love with fall! If you are up for a simple travel weekend through the greatest state, keep reading!

1. Island Oktoberfest

  • Oktoberfest's have been going on since the end of September throughout Texas and the big Wurstfest celebration in New Braunfels doesn't start till November 1st. However, this weekend if you want to head down to the Texas coast and have some great German food, then Island Oktoberfest is for you. It will be from 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday and then from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and it is hosted by the First Lutheran Church and admission is free. For more information click here.

2. SFA Homecoming

  • The next exciting thing for those who live in or near the Nacogdoches area is that this weekend is Homecoming for Stephen F. Austin State University! The festivities have been going on throughout the week on campus but everything begins Friday night at the annual homecoming bonfire! The bonfire will start at 9:30 p.m. and there will be a performance from 3OH!3 afterwards. Then wake up early for the Homecoming parade in downtown Nacogdoches, enjoy some lunch at a local restaurant, and then head over to the stadium for a 3 p.m. kick off! The Lumberjacks will be facing the McNeese Cowboys as they look to secure their second win of the season. The LMB will also be debuting their new halftime show and you won't want to miss it! Also since you will be in town, come say hi to MOT on Friday before the bonfire! We'd love to see you!

3. 29th Annual Fredericksburg Food and Wine Fest

  • If you enjoy the finer things in life, then Fredricksburg, Texas is the place for you! This Saturday from 12 to 7 p.m. you can drink wine and eat food and be merry! Admission is $25 for adults over 21 and $5 for guests under 21. Admission is a little pricey but you get souvenirs like a wine bag and a custom Fredicksburg Food and Wine fest wine glass that you can take home. Saturday we are supposed to have beautiful weather so grab all your friends and family and have a final cheers to fall this weekend! For more information click here. 

4. Texas Book Festival in Austin

  • If you are looking for an educational event that is sure to be fun for the whole family then head on down to Austin for the 2019 Texas Book Festival. They will have authors there to answer questions, meet fans, and sign books and they will also have a numerous display of books from all kinds of genres. They also have different activities going on throughout the day like face painting and crafts and so much more.
