Class A Versus Class C Motorhomes
If you’ve decided to buy a motorhome, you’ll have three types of RVs from which to choose: class A, class B, or class C. We’ve put together a quick guide describing the differences between class A motorhomes and class C motorhomes
Similarities
One of the biggest similarities between class A and class C motorhomes is that your RV is self-contained, so you have access to all of your stuff when you’re on the road. Rather than having to tow a trailer, you can drive your RV without needing an additional vehicle.
Generally, both classes of motorhomes also have full baths with a separate shower, toilet, and sink. Both classes of RV usually have space to sleep three or more people, so they’re great for both couples and families.
Differences</h2>
One of the most notable differences between these classes of RVs is the amount of living space. Class A motorhomes are usually 26-40 feet long, so you’ll get more kitchen space and possibly even a residential-sized fridge.
Many class A motorhomes include a queen or king bed with walk-around space, whereas if a class C includes this feature, it’s at the cost of some of your other living space. Instead, class C RVs will often either have a bed that has to be converted every night or only have a full-sized corner bed.
Class As will frequently have separate sofas/seating areas and dining areas, but a class C may have one or the other. Usually, the class Cs will have convertible areas, in which the dining table converts into a sofa or a bed.
Class Cs, which range in size from 21-35 feet long, will generally have less storage space than class A motorhomes. Class Cs will usually have storage under the bed and overhead cabinets, whereas class As will sometimes even have a large pantry and bigger closets.
Class Cs are often more flexible than class As, simply because their smaller size makes them easier to maneuver when driving. This size difference will also factor into your fuel costs – class As do not have near the performance in fuel economy compared to class Cs.
