How To Be Eco-friendly In An RV
Did you know that in addition to providing affordability and flexibility, RV vacations are more environmentally friendly? According to PFK consulting (an internationally recognized consulting firm with expertise in travel and tourism) found that families of four taking RV vacations created less waste than families traveling on a plane, renting a car, or staying in a hotel. While zero waste doesn’t actually mean “zero waste” for most of us – it can mean living a lifestyle that produces less waste. Producing less waste is better for the environment, planet, future generations and in the long term better for our health and finances. Here are a few ways you can practice “zero waste” living on your travels and can practice being eco-friendly in your RV:
- Purchase a reusable water bottle or thermos for your hot beverages. You will reduce the amount of trash produced on your travels and will save money long term.
- Bring your own bags when you are out shopping. This will cut down on plastic bag waste and use and take up less space in your RV.
- Use non-toxic cleaning supplies in your RV
- Opt for LED light bulbs. When you need to replace the bulbs in your RV, use LEDs instead.
- Purchase reusable silicone baggies instead of plastic ones.
- Always use marked campsites so you don’t damage natural habitats.
It’s no secret RV owners have a great love for the outdoors. But now you can enjoy your travels knowing that when you travel in an RV you are being environmentally friendly and can also start practicing zero waste living on the road!
