On the Road Again Entertainment

July is a pretty popular travel month in the United States because school is almost back in session. Once you get to your destination vacation the fun tends to start. However, this blog is going to be all about what you can do on the road to make the travel part more fun. From classic movies to fun games, this list of entertainment is sure to be a hit with anyone!

• First idea for entertainment is movies! This list is comprised of movies that are currently on Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime. Which means that if you are going to be traveling the backroads of the U.S. where there isn't always the best internet, make sure to download these movies before you leave home. This list ranges from movies about traveling with family to an adventure you never want to end. All movies listed are rated G or PG.
  • RV (2006) on Netflix rated PG
    • I mean it's in the name! RV is all about a dad wanting to connect with his kids before they get sucked into the digital age. With Robin Williams as the main character this movie is sure to get everyone in your motorhome laughing all the way to your next destination.
  • Cars 3 (2017) on Netflix rated G
    • If you are a super Cars fan you probably own the trilogy and can watch all of them on the way to your July getaway. If not, the 3rd installment is on Netflix for your road trip pleasure. Just don't "Kachow" while you are driving your motorhome.
  • The Neverending Story (1984) rent on Amazon Prime for $3.99 rated PG
    • This is the oldest movie on this list but it sure is a classic! This one isn't on Netflix but you can rent it and download it from Amazon. 
  • The Princess Bride (1987) rent on Amazon Prime for $3.99 rated PG
    • Another 80's movie that is still loved today. The Princess Bride has everything from action and adventure to romance. Add it to your traveling rotation today!
  • Are We There Yet? (2005) on Hulu rated PG
    • You haven't been on a long road trip if no one has ever asked "Are we there yet?" This movie about a family hitting the road together is a go to for all families who have that one inpatient rider (you know who you are). 
• Another way to liven up a road trip you ask? What about singing at the top of your lungs with family and friends! All you need is a great playlist and a designated DJ. Below are a few songs that should be in everyone's karaoke playlist. 
  • Don't Stop Believin by Journey
    • You can't go on a new journey without listening to Journey! Don't Stop Believin is an anthem for every age, which means everyone in your motorhome party is sure to know every word!
  • Drops of Jupiter by Train 
    • "So tell me did you ever road trip without hearing this song?" Am I the only one who automatically thinks of this song when ever I think of the band Train or see a train?
  • Dancing Queen by ABBA
    • This song lets you have a karaoke and a dance party all at once! Except make sure your driver doesn't get too crazy with the dance moves!
  • Take on Me by A-Ha
    • What's it going to take to add this hit from the 80's to your playlist?

• Last but not least, games! While busting out a board game can be difficult in a car, a card game is manageable. Below are 5 card games that are sure to be fun for all ages!
  • Taboo for $9.99 on Amazon.
    • The game where you have to help your partner guess the word without saying one of the similar words shown on the card. If you do slip up, you will get a buzzer in your ear! A fun and simple game to pass the time.
  • Over Under for $9.00 on Amazon.
    • The game of guessing the answer to random known facts! Fun and educational in a way too.
  • Uno for $5.44 on Amazon.
    • Everyone knows UNO. Which is why a couple of rounds of this childhood classic will make any road trip go by a little faster!
  • ReFraze for $12.78 on Amazon.
    • This card game is all about re-wording hit movies, tv-shows, songs, etc. and seeing if you can get others to guess the real name! With multiple different versions this game is a must add to your traveling game collection.
  • Monopoly Deal for $3.99 at Walmart.
    • Ever wanted to play Monopoly but decided not to because it never ends? Well Monopoly Deal is perfect, because each round will be over in about fifteen minutes. A fast paced version of Monopoly? Count me in!
