Myth: Motorhomes Get Terrible Gas Mileage

Gas mileage in today's motorhome is better than most people think. Many advancements have been made in the last few years that have resulted in better mileage for motorhomes. Manufacturers are aware of customer preferences, so they continue to improve fuel efficiency. If you are in the market for a more fuel-efficient motorhome let your local dealership know.

Myth: Model Numbers Indicate the Length of the Motorhome

Although some brands have tried to incorporate the length of the RV into the model number, too many motorhomes are similar lengths, so it doesn't make sense from a practical standpoint.

Myth: I'll Need to Get a Special License If I Buy a Large Motorhome

No motorhome requires any special driver's license in the U.S. However, laws may vary outside of the country. If you plan on driving outside of the country do your research before you go.

Myth: RVing Is Expensive

Buying, traveling or living in an RV is as expensive as you make it. One of the best things about RVing is how versatile it is. You can buy a new motorhome or pre-owned motorhome, you can seek out less expensive camping options or stay at nicer RV resorts and parks, it's all up to you.

Myth: The Best Type of RV to Own Is a ___

Everyone has an opinion about which motorhome or RV is the best, while no single one counts as the best. It depends on factors such as your family size, amount of time spent traveling, where you would like to travel and many other considerations. Talk to people with different types of motorhomes and ask them why they like them and why.

As you spend time researching information about motorhomes and RVs you're bound to come across myths and misconceptions. If you're new to motorhome ownership be sure to speak with your local dealer and other motorhome owners to separate fact from myth.
