The History of Tiffin Motorhomes
For 50 years now, one of the leading motorhome brands in the United States has been Tiffin. This company remains family-owned and operated and its legacy of providing high-quality motorhomes to customers is unparalleled. As your Texas Tiffin dealer, we’ve provided you with a little company history to let you know what makes Tiffin motorhomes so remarkable.
Early Days
The Tiffin Supply Company was founded by Alex Tiffin in 1941 in Alabama. His son Bob joined the company in the 1960s and dedicated himself to mastering the machinations of a cotton gin that Alex purchased. Having completed this task, Bob decided that the company should enter the RV market and purchased a local company that wasn’t doing well. Within a few years, Bob would transform the enterprise into Tiffin Motorhomes.
Allegro
The first Tiffin motorhome that Bob manufactured was the Allegro in 1972. Bob noted that his competitors used fiberglass and aluminum to build their motorhomes, so he upgraded to a heavier steel chassis that could truly stand the test of time. Tiffin’s focus on quality means that they only produce 12 motorhomes per day so that there are no shortcuts or rushed models.
Family-Owned and Operated
The third generation of Tiffin is in the hands of Bob’s three sons, Van, Tim, and Lex, who now manage the company’s departments. Tiffin Motorhomes remains headquartered in Red Bay, Alabama, and Bob remains as chief executive officer.
